Obituary of Ashley Cormier

It is with heavy hearts that John and Kathy Carroll of Hatfield Point announce the death of their beloved foster daughter, Ashley Candace Cormier on April 5, 2025. Ashley came into our care in 1996 after being severely brain damaged due to smoke inhalation in a house fire. Although completely immobilized, she could give a beautiful smile which often happened while listening to music.

Besides her foster parents, Ashley is survived by their children, Beth Carroll (Bryan), Jennifer Stackhouse (Glen), Sean Carroll, Brandon Carroll, Dustin Carroll, and Wayne Carroll.

We would like to thank all of Ashley’s caregivers over the years, the doctors and nurses who cared for her in hospitals, and the Extra Mural nurses who gave such wonderful care and compassion in her last weeks of life. We also want to thank our extended family and our church family at Hatfield Baptist Church for their many prayers and meals they provided.

Although saddened by our loss, we rejoice in the knowledge that Ashley is now completely free of any disability and in the presence of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB where a public visitation will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. The funeral service celebrating her homegoing will take place on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at 2:00 at the Hatfield Point Baptist Church. Donations in memory of Ashley may be made to Extra Mural – Sussex, the Hatfield Point Baptist Church, or the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences to the family and donations may be made through SherwoodsFuneralHome.com
