Obituary of Bob Erb
It is with sadness that the family of Robert Ralph Erb announce his passing which occurred on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at the Kiwanis Nursing Home, Sussex, NB. Bob was born April 30, 1938, in Belleisle Creek, NB to Ralph and Greta (Knollin) Erb. When he was 5 years old, they moved to Nova Scotia for a year but then came back to New Brunswick and settled into Springfield. Bob went all the way through high school and started Forestry School, but due to the passing of his father he returned home to help run the family farm. He did go on to become a Construction Millwright. Bob married Lois in 1962 and together they started their family, then the grandchildren came along to the delight of them both.
Bob loved to weld and repair things which gave him experience from his work and enjoyed it greatly. Bob travelled all over Canada, most of the eastern seaboard of the United States, including all the way down to Florida. Bob used to do a lot of hunting and fishing and remembered very vividly when he shot his 1st moose!
Bob is survived by his sons: Richard Erb (Sherry) of Springfield, NB and Stephen Erb of Belleisle Creek, NB; sisters: Helen Edwards (Joe) of Springfield, NB and Verna Sprague of Kiersteadville, NB; grandchildren: Courtney Griffin (Ryan), Makayla Erb (Aden), Ethan Erb (Sophie); great grandchildren: Westley, Brooks, Cruz and Vivienne Griffin; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife Lois (Mahoney) Erb, sisters Mildred Webster and Hazel Allen.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center (506-839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB where the visitation will be on Monday, April 7, 2025 from 4 to 7pm. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 11:00am from Sherwood’s Chapel. The interment will take place in the Bayview Cemetery at a later date.
