Obituary of Bertha Jackson
Bertha Leona Jackson was a devoted wife, mother, foster parent, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. In addition to touching the lives of those around her, she was known for her warm heart and even warmer apple pies. After a life filled with love, grace, and kindness, Bertha passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Great Oaks Special Care Home in Wickham, NB.
She was born in Waterborough, NB, on October 28, 1937, a daughter of the late Ernest and Florence (Ferris) Jones. In 1956, she married her husband, John Jackson and together they lived a life full of family, gardening, and farming.
Bertha is survived by her son John (Beth) Jackson of McDonald’s Point, NB; son-in-law Richard Keirstead of Sussex, NB; chosen sons: Paul (Heather) Lockhart of Joliff’s Brook, NB, and Robert (Karla) Noel of Red Deer, AB; grandchildren: John (Lindsay), Shawn (Sharlene), Justin (Kaylee), Garrett (Taylor), Lauren, Rebecca (Michael), Shannon (Brooke), Dylan (Marley) and Brom; great grandchildren: Kyla, Brody, Shealyn, Gemma and Ember; brother Ron Jones, sister Shirley Reicker as well as many cherished family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Bertha was predeceased by her husband John Jackson; daughter Margaret Keirstead; great-grandchildren Miles and Raya; brother George Jones, and sister Marion Reicker.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 13th, 2025, at 2:00 PM at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, in Wickham, NB where Bertha was a proud and active member. Interment will follow at Day’s Point Cemetery, Wickham, NB. A reception will be held at Belyea’s Cove Hall following the interment.
