Obituary of Mark Hatfield
It is with great sadness that the family of Mark Hatfield announce his passing which occurred on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at his home in Hatfield Point, NB. Born in Sussex, NB, on January 18, 1961, he was the son of William “Willie” Hatfield and the late Ellen “Ellie” (Reicker) Hatfield.
Mark was a loving, committed son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. His family and friends were his whole world. He loved a crowded table and a packed bonfire. He was known for his love of truck driving, music, hockey, and the weather. His summers were spent at the beach spending time with his family and socializing with his extended beach family. He loved Friday afternoons in the garage, visiting and catching up on the week with his people. During the fall he enjoyed spending time in the woods, whether it be cutting wood or having a little siesta in the camp.
Mark was a hard worker in and outside the home. He loved a good storm and getting called out early to plow the roads. He was a weather enthusiast and always kept the family up to date on current weather conditions.
It was very important to Mark that all the kids learned to drive everything as early as they could. Cars, lawn mowers, bikes, boats, tractors etc. He loved driving, driving everything and driving fast. He may have been a race car driver in a previous life. He spent a lot of years driving truck and got to see a lot of country. His face always lit up when he told stories of the good ol’ trucking days.
Mark is survived by his loving wife Kathy Hatfield of Hatfield Point, NB; children: Laura Hatfield, Stuart Hatfield (Kelly), Carla Hatfield and Krista Hatfield all of Hatfield Point, NB; grandchildren: Makyah, Raelyn, Ellie and Lana Hatfield, Blake and Becca Belding and Jett Riley; father Willie Hatfield; brother Ron Hatfield of Sussex, NB; sister Patti Kennedy (Charles) of Hatfield Point, NB; uncle Doug Reicker (Faye); aunts: Alberta Clowes and Pat Gilleshammer; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Sussex Extra Mural, Dr. Gillmore and Dr. Gray for their exceptional care shown towards Mark and his family. Your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten.
