Obituary of Trudy Annette Gow

It is with great sadness that the family of Trudy Annette Gow (McArthur) announces her passing which occurred on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at her home in Wickham, NB. Born in North Sydney, NS on June 5, 1955, she was the daughter of the late John and Eileen “Peek” (Musgrave) McArthur. In addition to her parents, Trudy was predeceased by her father-in-law John Gow and mother-in-law Gladys Gow.

Trudy had a passion for curling. She introduced many young people to the sport over the years. Trudy made many long-time friends through curling at the Carleton Curling Club. Most notably her husband Bruce of 32 years. Trudy enjoyed living in Wickham on the St. John River in her later years; walks with Gertie, the trees, the birds (especially hummingbirds and a pair of annually returning ducks). The river gave her great joy and peace.

Trudy is survived by her loving husband Bruce Gow of Wickham, NB; step-son Brent Park (Kara) of Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren: Peyton and Oliver Park; brothers: Albert McArthur (Cecelia) of Westmount, NS, Colin McArthur (Irene) of South Bar, NS and John McArthur (Catherine) of Tignish, PEI; sisters: Eileen McArthur of Halifax, NS and Valerie Nelson (James) of North Sydney, NS; sisters-in-law: Lynda Gow of Saint John, NB and Janice Stephenson of Halifax, NS; special nephew Andrew Nelson (Stacey); special niece Dana Young (Brian); as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center (506-839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, and will be held privately. A gathering to celebrate Trudy and give thanks for her life will be held in the summer. Donations in Trudy’s memory may be made to the  Canadian Cancer Society, Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
