We are saddened with the loss of your dear Jim. He was certainly a true fine Christian man. Gordon enjoyed their golf games together and we both had he and Mary on our bowling team. Mary and family: Lorraine and I are deeply saddened to learn of Jim’s passing and extend our sincere condolences at this difficult time. I have many fond memories of our years together at the Saint John Fire Department when Jim was my Officer. As acknowledged by many, Jim was a Firefighters, Firefighter who was well-respected for his knowledge and leadership at every rank he held within our department. Moreover, his Irish ancestry blessed him with a dry wit, a wonderful sense of humour and an amazing voice to entertain us during our annual Christmas gatherings. Unfortunately, we are unable to attend Jim’s Mass of Christian burial as we are currently in Spain. However, we will be keeping you in our prayers and will light a candle for Jim tomorrow at the Cathedral in Santiago de Compostela as you celebrate the life of a good man who lived a long and faithful life. Our condolences to the Hanlon family at this difficult time. Growing up in Norton, down the road from Jim and the family, I have many fond memories of my childhood sitting around the Hanlon Family table, taking in the incrediable love that Jim had for his family, and for us, his neighbours. I had the good fortune of being an occasional guest at the Hanlon’s through high school, as Steve and I were classmates and friends. It always felt good to be there. Jim and Mary made me feel welcome and cared for, and the home was warm with kindness and good humour. Steve, Pete, and I would readily share laughs, and the younger girls even put up with us. You knew Mary, the boys and their sisters were well loved. My sincerest condolences to you all during this difficult time.

We offer our sincere condolences to Mary , Jim's children, grandchildren and siblings. I had the honor and previlidge to work with this great man of faith, integrity. Character a committed family man . When I held the position of Fire Chief I had to choose a member of the Fire Department to become my Deputy . There was a competition for the position . I chose Jim as he was one of the most respected members of the Fire Department . He was a great Firefighter , Officer and most of all a real gentleman. He served the citizens of Saint John well and as Fire Chief I considered myself very fortunate to have had Jim as my Deputy . Those that knew Jim also knew that he had a great voice . It is certain that he is in heaven signing with the choir of angels . My you rest in peace Jim and my God bless you .
